Klitmøller Folk High School | Klitmøller, Denmark | fall 2018
Klitmøller is a town in the municipality of Thisted north of Denmark with only a bit over thousand inhabitants. The town used to be a small fishing village, but windy and curving waves together with the increased interest in surfing have transformed Klitmøller into one of Europe's premier windsurfing and kitesurfing destinations, known colloquially as "Cold Hawaii". The municipality’s plans are to utilize the existing conditions of the great surfing and immediate access to the neighboring national park to establish a folk high school in Klitmøller. During my exchange studies in Aarhus School of Architecture my studio focused in tectonics and habitation collaborated with the municipality of Thisted to help develop ideas for the new folk high school.
My proposal is a campus consisting of five different buildings separated by their functions. Focus in the dormitory building and a housing unit the project is an exploration of the  prefabricated building elements together with shaping the campus to match the conditions of the beautiful Danish coast. The campus has capacity to host 50 students, four teachers and two other staff to live at the campus for six months at a time.
